  • 17 dating

Это все-таки не просто ing-овая форма глагола to date в его специфически американском (но распространенном уже не только в Америке) значении to make or have social engagements with ( persons of the opposite sex) – кстати, в этом определении из American Heritage Dictionary последняя часть, может быть, уже устарела.

•• What is a reasonable age for youths to begin dating? (Newsday).
•• I don’t date, but I’m a fool for cologne. Go figure. –
•• Does anybody really dateanymore – are there still days ( and nights) of wine and roses? Or is the ‘90s pattern more likely to be fast food, then fast sex?
    •• We’ll take a look at the ‘90s dating scene. –
•• ...the changing patterns of dating, mating, and union formation....the dating and mating behavior of contemporary single women has been neglected by the scholarly world so far....dating advice books. The interviews... were simply an effort to collect biographical, educational, and dating histories of the women who agreed to participate.
Соответствующие английские слова встречаются в этом же тексте сплошь и рядом как контекстуальные синонимы или как квазидефиниции dating: ...earlier eras when the courtship system was also in upheaval....the male biological clock ticks more slowly and men have more years to devote to their search....mating search......a mating system that will one day make finding a desirable partner straightforward and relatively easy for the new single woman.
The changing patterns of dating, mating and union formation – меняющаяся практика знакомств, выбора партнера и создания брачного союза.
•• No one would dismiss the influence on dating of the automobile or the birth-control pill.
•• interracial dating: American teens view interracial dating, once a rarity in American society, as ‘no big deal’, a USA TODAY Poll shows.
